The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newell shoots in and drives through. Adebisi sprawls well.
Adebisi misses with a takedown attempt
and Newell counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Adebisi decides to stand back up. Adebisi steps back and let's Newell get back to his feet.
Newell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Adebisi circles away.
Adebisi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Newell was covering up waiting for the punch and Adebisi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Adebisi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Newell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Adebisi manages to get himself to full guard.
Adebisi is trying to keep Newell in close.
Adebisi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Newell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
