PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Island Guy (ranked 2791 p4p, 3747 weight class) and Mr Pancit (ranked 307 p4p, 381 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mr Pancit was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Island Guy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mr Pancit!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pancit throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Guy's waist but Guy gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pancit off to one side.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Pancit has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Guy scores with a hook to the body. Pancit takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Guy keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Pancit steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Guy.
Pancit changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Guy misses with a left hand

so Pancit counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Pancit is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pancit postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pancit postures up in Guy's guard and throws a big left but Guy blocks it.
Guy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Guy tries to get out of the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pancit accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guy lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Guy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Guy striking off his back, scoring a few points.
Pancit stops Guy from standing up.
Guy working a defensive guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guy looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Pancit drops back looking for a leg! Guy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Guy manages to kick Pancit off! Pancit jumps back into Guy's guard.
Guy definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Pancit stands and throws Guy's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Pancit is working to tighten his grip on Guy's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Guy has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Pancit is really squeezing tight and eventually Guy passes out! Pancit breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
