Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Abduwali Hassan (ranked 1915 p4p, 1201 weight class) and Tom Korppila (ranked 148 p4p, 100 weight class). Korppila has chosen Mustasch - The Mauler as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 27 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Abduwali Hassan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Korppila! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Korppila on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Hassan lands a body shot.
Hassan thows a leg kick but Korppila checks it and Korppila counters with a straight right hand. Korppila shoots in and drives through. Hassan sprawls well. Korppila drops his hands momentarily and Hassan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Hassan throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Korppila defending well as Hassan loads up on a big left hand. Hassan uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Korppila drives through with a takedown into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hassan wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Korppila manages to pass to side control. Korppila is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hassan has managed to free his arm - good work. Hassan scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Korppila manages to mount him!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hassan wants to try and get back to his feet. Korppila throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Hassan is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Korppila with a couple of short strikes. Korppila thowing shots but they're missing. Hassan blocking the ground and pound. Hassan is squirming around, avoiding Korppila's attempts to control the action. Hassan wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Korppila goes for an armbar but Hassan turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Hassan.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hassan tries to stand but Korppila is controlling from the bottom. Korppila looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Korppila isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hassan stacks Korppila on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hassan! Korppila tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hassan stands up and we're back to a striking position. Korppila fails with the takedown. Hassan swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Korppila. Korppila slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Korppila steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hassan. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Korppila! But no joy. Korppila shoots in and drives through. Hassan sprawls well. Abduwali Hassan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Korppila. Hassan scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Hassan fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Korppila checks it well. Korppila keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hassan. Abduwali Hassan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hassan lands a jab. Abduwali Hassan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Good shot there by Hassan. Horrible takedown attempt by Korppila or perhaps it was just good defense by Hassan, which made it look bad. Korppila dives in for a single leg takedown but Hassan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Hassan misses with an uppercut. Korppila saw that one coming. Korppila lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Korppila fails with a takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Korppila looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hassan throws a jab when Korppila was well out of range. Hassan rushes Korppila and presses him up against the cage. Hassan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Korppilas head. Korppila ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Korppila no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Hassan wanted to stand there but Korppila had control of the position. Korppila has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Korppila looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hassan has picked Korppila up and slammed him! Korppila can't keep hold of the triangle and Hassan manages to pass to side control! Hassan decides to stand back up. Hassan looks to land a right hand but Korppila moved out of range. Korppila has a takedown stuffed. Korppila uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hassan. Korppila shoots for a double leg takedown but Hassan sprawls well. He's pushed Korppila's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hassan cracks Korppila with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Korppila is rocked! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Abduwali Hassan dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Hassan lands with a nice body punch. Hassan throws a looping overhand right but Korppila ducks down to avoid it. Korppila uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hassan. Hassan misses with a left hand and Hassan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Korppila uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hassan. A swing and a miss from Korppila. Hassan moves away from the strike by Korppila. Hassan misses with an uppercut
and Korppila counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Korppila tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Hassan loads up on a big right hand but Korppila slips the punch. Hassan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Korppila can do to turn this around? Hassan throws a shot to the body.
Hassan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Korppila throws out the jab. Korppila walks into a straight right hand from Hassan. Korppila defending well as Hassan loads up on a big left hand. Hassan lands with an overhand left. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A bone on bone clash there as Korppila blocks the leg kick.
Hassan loads up on a big right hand but Korppila slips the punch. Korppila doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Korppila walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hassan lands a jab to the head.
Korppila is still on wobbly legs! Can Hassan finish him? Hassan throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Korppila on the side of the head. Korppila fails with a takedown attempt. Hassan throws a shot from downtown. Korppila moves away and avoids it. Hassan throws a looping overhand right but Korppila ducks down to avoid it. A solid leg kick lands there for Hassan.
Korppila uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hassan. Korppila seems to have recovered his senses. Hassan wants to clinch and Hassan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Korppila keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hassan digs a good body shot into Korppila's ribs. Hassan misses with a looping left. Hassan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Korppila was well out of range. Poor timing from Hassan. Korppila goes for a double leg but Hassan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hassan continues to drive forward. Hassan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Hassan paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Korppila shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hassan sprawls well. Hassan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Korppila gets slowly back to his feet. It looked like Hassan wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Abduwali Hassan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Korppila. A big right from Korppila misses. Korppila closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hassan circles away. A left lands for Hassan. Hassan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Korppila. Hassan connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Hassan lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Korppila falls backwards - clearly groggy! Hassan dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Abduwali Hassan! After the big win, Abduwali Hassan made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Stoner's Killer Apparel and telling the interviewer how much he loves him. In defeat, Tom Korppila stepped up to the mic, saying 'Well didn’t that suck? He may have beaten me, but could he outwrestle a bear? I don’t think so.'.
