Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wei Chen (ranked 2472 p4p, 2702 weight class) and Pinarus Inventius (ranked 244 p4p, 265 weight class). Pinarus Inventius has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wei Chen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pinarus Inventius!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Ron Honeybunn and Chris Dean.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chen darts in looking for a takedown but Inventius gets double underhooks and turns Chen into the cage.
Inventius was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Chen goes for a takedown attempt but Inventius pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Chen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Inventius has hold of Chen's hands but Chen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Chen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Inventius's head.

Chen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Inventius on the ground.
Inventius manages to get to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Inventius is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chen defends well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Chen is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Inventius is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Inventius has escaped and now he's on top!

Inventius tries to free his leg and advance position but Chen is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chen is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Inventius looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Chen stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Inventius throws up his legs and catches Chen in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Chen tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Inventius! That came out of nowhere!
