Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 18 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ay Blyad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 21 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blyad lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Blyad lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rome's sensitive parts.
Blyad listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
A nice leg kick from Blyad, right into the meat of the thigh.

Blyad shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rome napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Rome gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rome manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Rome looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Blyad has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Rome lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rome avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Blyad working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rome doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rome manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rome moves nicely into side control.
Blyad is looking to regain half guard here but Rome keeps moving and retains side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rome wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Blyad, who protects the arm well.
Blyad looking for a sweep but Rome has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Rome quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Rome but it's paid off an Blyad is forced to tap! Nice work by Rome.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Curtis Rome!
Curtis Rome was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
