This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 41 wins and 49 losses; Anthony Lavicci! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 78 wins and 50 losses; Bogdan Kersikov! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and James Glass.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Lavicci goes for a double leg but Kersikov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kersikov continues to drive forward. Kersikov gets control of Lavicci's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kersikov will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Lavicci has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Lavicci is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kersikov sees it coming and defends easily. Lavicci looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Kersikov is trying to control. Kersikov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Lavicci won't allow Kersikov to pass to mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
