PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yawa Kiang (ranked 23930 p4p, 23864 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yawa Kiang has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 57 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 46 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Kiang shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kiang was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Nada is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Nada can't do much from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kiang has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Nada is looking for a sweep.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nice takedown defense from Kiang. No joy for Nada on that attempt.
Kiang quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nada shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kiang is trying to defend but Nada finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Kiang tries to roll over but Nada keeps him under control.
Nada is looking to stall here but Kiang recovers full guard.
Nada engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Kiang has his hands on Nada's head, controlling the position.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Kiang.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nada looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yawa Kiang dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Nada fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And Kiang counters with a quick kick to the body but Nada blocks it.
Kiang shoots in looking for a takedown but Nada manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kiang's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Nada changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Nada feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nada is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kiang holds on and takes a little breather.
Kiang looking for a sweep. Not yet Kiang, not yet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nice sprawl there from Kiang as Nada shoots in.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kiang is defended easily by Nada.
Nada replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Kiang blocks it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nada has his takedown stuffed
and Kiang makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Nada really felt that one!
Yawa Kiang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Way Nada.

Nada darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Nada seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Kiang keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nada in particular looking to stall.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Nada misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Kiang fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nada sprawls well initially but Kiang persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Nada is trying is best to control the position here.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kiang in particular looking to stall.
Nada is trying to maintain the position but Kiang is very close to passing his half guard.
Nada might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kiang haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kiang misses with a takedown attempt - Nada sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nada throws the kick towards the body but Kiang avoids it.
Kiang fires out a quick counter leg kick but Nada just manages to avoid it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A clash of legs there as Kiang blocks the low kick.

Kiang shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kiang seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Nada wants to improve his position but Kiang is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nada has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kiang is working away from the top position though.
Kiang thows a huge punch but Nada dodges it nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nada has his hands clasped together around Kiang's back. He's all about the action.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yawa Kiang showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kiang has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
