Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kiron Menezes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boris Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garcia is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Essentials Feat J2K & Dynasty - "State Your Name". I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kiron Menezes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boris Garcia! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Garcia is defended easily by Menezes. Garcia throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Menezes was covering up waiting for the punch and Garcia finishes the takedown easily into guard. Menezes wants to sweep here but Garcia controlling him for the moment. Garcia drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Garcia jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Garcia throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Menezes works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Menezes looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Garcia thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Garcia drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Menezes dives on top into guard. Menezes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Garcia is proving hard to escape from.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garcia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Menezes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Menezes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Menezes wants to stand but Garcia is controlling his posture from full guard. Menezes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Garcia is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garcia looks gassed! Menezes is looking to stand up but Garcia won't let him.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Menezes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Menezes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Garcia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Garcia has his foot on Menezes's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Menezes works his way back into a safe position though.

Menezes gets to his feet - Garcia follows without any prompting. Menezes misses with a double jab.
Garcia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Garcia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Menezes is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Menezes tries to get back to half guard but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Garcia is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Menezes is surviving well by controlling Garcia's body position as best he can. Garcia looking for a guillotine from mount but Menezes is having none of it. Garcia throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Menezes is desperately trying to improve his position but Garcia has a good base and remains in mount. Garcia lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Boris Garcia dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Garcia avoids a punch combination nicely.
A jab from Menezes misses. Menezes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Menezes misses with a hook. Garcia ducked under it nicely. Menezes thuds his right hand into Garcia's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Menezes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Garcia ducks under a wild hook from Menezes. Menezes misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garcia tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Garcia shoots in but no luck this time. Menezes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Garcia tries to clinch up. Garcia tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Menezes paws at him with a jab and circles away. Menezes missing with a left hand there. Garcia was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Menezes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Garcia.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Garcia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Menezes.
Menezes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Garcia. Kiron Menezes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boris Garcia. Menezes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Garcia decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Menezes blocking the ground and pound attempt from Garcia. Garcia lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Garcia missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Garcia thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Menezes's head. Garcia winds up and cracks Menezes with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Garcia thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Menezes looking for submissions off his back. Garcia passes to full mount! Garcia can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Menezes is looking to escape. Garcia is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Menezes has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Menezes tries to lock up and control but Garcia gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Garcia wants to control the pace but Menezes is squirming around nicely. Garcia is going olschool here, as he tries to force Menezes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Menezes shrugs it off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Menezes blocking the ground and pound. Garcia wants to take Menezes's back but he can't do it this time. Garcia goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Menezes turns into him and now he's in Garcia's guard.
