The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Elvul bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Elvul (4) vs (0) Marden Elvul wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marden keeps working. Marden is looking for a sweep. Marden has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Elvul wants to control but Marden is keeping him busy. Marden is trying to get back to half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Marden is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Elvul keeping moving, preventing Marden from controlling successfully. Marden avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's seven minutes gone in the round. Elvul keeping moving, preventing Marden from controlling successfully. Elvul controls Marden momentarily but Marden frees himself. Marden trying to control but Elvul is working from the bottom. Marden is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Marden trying to control the position from guard on top but Elvul is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Marden slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Let's hope that Marden has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Oh but he could get punished here because Elvul has locked up a guillotine! Elvul's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Marden is holding on here and Elvul must be using up a lot of energy. Marden has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Elvul gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
