Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dane Mercer (ranked 4665 p4p, 4858 weight class) and Bukhuti Favlenishvili (ranked 290 p4p, 305 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dane Mercer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bukhuti Favlenishvili!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Ben Watson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer misses with a body kick.
Favlenishvili moves out of range as Mercer throws a body kick.
Favlenishvili takes one on the button.
It looks like Bukhuti Favlenishvili has been cut.
Favlenishvili throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mercer's waist but Mercer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Favlenishvili off to one side.
Mercer throws a big counter combination but Favlenishvili scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Mercer misses with a wild combination.
Favlenishvili fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mercer to the ground. Favlenishvili is now in Mercer's guard.
Favlenishvili passes Mercer's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Mercer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Favlenishvili on the ground.
Mercer is looking to escape.
Favlenishvili decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Mercer.
Favlenishvili looks winded!
Mercer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mercer goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Mercer misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mercer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've been told by Mercer's head coaches at Oceanian Knuckle Up Dojo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Mercer throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick from Favlenishvili lands but Mercer takes it in his stride.
Mercer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Favlenishvili avoids the head kick by Mercer.
A punch combination from Mercer misses.
Mercer throws a head kick but Favlenishvili moves out of range.
Favlenishvili throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mercer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Favlenishvili is in Mercer's guard.
Favlenishvili decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mercer scores with a head kick. Favlenishvili tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Favlenishvili is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mercer throws a right hand that Favlenishvili ducks under and follows up with a left that Favlenishvili also avoids with ease.
Favlenishvili tries to counter by closing the distance.
Favlenishvili is still on wobbly legs! Can Mercer finish him?
Mercer throws a low kick, looking for Favlenishvili's leg but Favlenishvili calmly moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mercer feints with a jab and clips Favlenishvili right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Favlenishvili is sent crashing into the canvas and Mercer leaps in for the kill! Favlenishvili tries to get to his feet but Mercer is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Favlenishvili is in need of a savior and steps in!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dane Mercer!
