Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Massif Headingery (ranked 3991 p4p, 5777 weight class) and Jim Thomas (ranked 416 p4p, 496 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Headingery walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Headingery tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Thomas manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Headingery slips under a jab.
Jim Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice body punch from Thomas.
We've been hearing reports that Headingery has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
A big right from Thomas misses.
Headingery takes a jab right on the kisser.
The crowd cheers as Thomas lands an impressive looking overhand right. Headingery doesn't seem phased though.
No luck for Headingery with that takedown attempt.
Headingery walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Nice shot lands for Thomas.

Headingery feints and as Thomas raises his hands in defense, Headingery changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Headingery drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Headingery jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Headingery drops back looking for a leg! Thomas is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Thomas manages to kick Headingery off! Headingery jumps back into Thomas's guard.

Headingery is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Headingery. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Headingery thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Thomas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Thomas is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Headingery pushes down on Thomas's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Headingery is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Headingery seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Thomas is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
