This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 55 wins and 34 losses; Vasiliy Kulik! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 54 wins and 55 losses; Long Wang! The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and Paul Tew.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Kulik rushes Wang and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Wang drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kulik pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kulik has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Wang clinches. Wang turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Wang manages to end up in side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Kulik (0) vs (4) Wang Kulik tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kulik wants to control but Wang postures up. Wang tries to move to mount but Kulik blocks the move with his legs. Kulik is being controlled here. Wang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kulik keeps working. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wang working away. Wang controls the position. Wang trying to control the action but Kulik is working from the bottom.

Kulik is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kulik prevents Wang from improving position. Wang wants to take a breather but Kulik manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Wang. Wang staying calm. Kulik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Wang has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Kulik wants to control but Wang is having none of it. Kulik tries to reverse the position but Wang maintains control. Wang controlling the pace for now.

Or the ring announcers come to think of it. Kulik wants to hold on but Wang pushes him away. Kulik is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Wang can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kulik is looking to escape. Wang wants to control but instead Kulik manages to regain half guard. Wang stalling. Wang is keen to just control but Kulik is a slippery customer.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Well, if Wang is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Kulik looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wang is one step ahead there. Wang's corner is telling him to maintain position. Kulik keeping moving, preventing Wang from controlling successfully.

That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Wang controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Wang pushing down on Kulik's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Kulik moves into full guard.
Wang seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kulik keeping full guard, as Wang tries to pass.
And that's the end of the fight! Wang wins on points by 9 to 0. Long Wang decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well. |
