PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Old Striking (ranked 3379 p4p, 5624 weight class) and Marshall Knight (ranked 356 p4p, 515 weight class). Striking comes to the cage accompanied by Hard Work Cadence. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Old Striking!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marshall Knight!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Striking rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Knight moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Knight throws a jab when Striking was well out of range.
Striking swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Knight takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Striking misses with a double jab.
Striking's jab looks to have found its range, popping Knight under the eye.
Striking swings for the body but Knight moves out of range.
Knight looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
A swing and a miss from Knight.
Striking lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Striking keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Striking fires out a quick counter leg kick but Knight just manages to avoid it.

It looked like Striking was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Knight.

That was a close round but I would say that Old Striking will probably get the nod.

Striking is trying to maintain a safe position but Knight gets an underhook and turns Striking into the cage.

Knight uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Striking.
Striking misses with a hook. Knight ducked under it nicely.
Striking takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Knight's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Knight finds Striking's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Striking flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Knight lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Striking will be OK.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marshall Knight!
Old Striking was interviewed post fight and said 'I didn't expect this result. You were better again. Congratulations for the victory. Despite the bad phase you proved to be a great opponent. Success on your journey!'.
