PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodney Pitstain (ranked 5021 p4p, 25319 weight class) and Shane Boran (ranked 483 p4p, 558 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rodney Pitstain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Boran!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pitstain gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Boran looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Boran gets to his feet. Pitstain looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Pitstain misses with the body kick

and Boran counters with a single leg into guard. Pitstain didn't expect that.
Boran trying to control but Pitstain is working from the bottom.

Pitstain kicks Boran off and gets to his feet.
Pitstain swinging wildly here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A punch combination from Pitstain misses.
A nice side step and Boran releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Pitstain looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Pitstain is breathing heavily.
Boran goes for a double leg but Pitstain avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pitstain continues to drive forward.
Pitstain misses with a combination

and Boran counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Boran seems to be working for a kimura but Pitstain defends the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boran wants to take a breather but Pitstain is having none of it.
Boran lands strikes from half guard.
Boran is pressing down on Pitstain's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pitstain is holding on for now.
Boran passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Pitstain!
Pitstain in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Boran trying to control but Pitstain is having none of it.
Pitstain's coaches at Shut Up & Train! have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
The referee warns Pitstain that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Boran working for a guillotine from mount but Pitstain is in no mood to give up.
Boran lands a big elbow.
Boran sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Boran looking to finish Pitstain with some ground and pound. This is bad for Pitstain!
Boran with shots to the head and body - Pitstain looks very uncomfortable down there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Boran is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pitstain is surviving well by controlling Boran's body position as best he can.
Boran throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Pitstain because Boran loaded up on that one.
Boran trying to control but Pitstain is having none of it.

Boran has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pitstain's face.
Pitstain taking shots to the head.
Boran misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Boran pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Boran has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pitstain's face.

Pitstain is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boran scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Oh Pitstain is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Boran connects with a bit shot that sees Pitstain covering up! More strikes from Boran and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Boran is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shane Boran!
In defeat, Rodney Pitstain stepped up to the mic, saying 'You can't hang and bang with everyone, but I did my best tonight. Screw the haters, I love you all, though.'.
