This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 28 wins and 13 losses; Rumsfeld Shart! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 14 losses; Mono Loco! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Shart gets caught napping as Loco dives in and scores a takedown. Shart manages to retain guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Shart (0) vs (2) Loco Shart manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Loco manages to get himself to full guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Shart (2) vs (2) Loco The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Shart slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Shart wants to pass the guard but Loco is keeping the position. Loco trying to control the position.
Shart is stalling in the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shart will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Shart passes Loco's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shart keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Loco is trying to maintain the position but Shart is very close to passing his half guard. Shart performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Shart frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Shart (5) vs (2) Loco Loco is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Shart is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Loco is surviving well by controlling Shart's body position as best he can. Loco wants to control but Shart is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Loco tries to improve his position but Shart has taken his back! Shart has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Loco tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Shart pushes Loco away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rumsfeld Shart! Rumsfeld Shart retains his super heavyweight title!
