Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ashton Ribeiro (ranked 3260 p4p, 25090 weight class) and Howie Travis (ranked 389 p4p, 601 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ashton Ribeiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Howie Travis! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ribeiro fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Howie Travis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ribeiro moves out of range of the body kick from Travis.
Travis misses with a wild body shot. Travis fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Donk. Ribeiro catches Travis right on the button with a cross. Travis throws a hook to the side of Ribeiro's head but Ribeiro sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Travis throws a body kick that misses. Ribeiro moves out of range of the strikes. Travis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Travis fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ribeiro looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Ribeiro has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Travis finds it's way round the side to connect with Ribeiro's head. Ribeiro tries to clinch but Travis is having none of it. Travis misses with an uppercut. Ribeiro saw that one coming. Ribeiro throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ribeiro moves into range and clinches up with Travis. Ribeiro definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Travis is trying to break the clinch but Ribeiro is controlling him. Travis stops a takedown attempt from Ribeiro.
This has been an exciting period of action! Ribeiro tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Travis avoids it. Travis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A big right from Travis misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good standup being displayed there by Ribeiro as he connects with a hook. Travis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ribeiro's head. Ribeiro throws a head kick but Travis moves out of range.
Travis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
A jab from Travis finds it's way through Ribeiro's defenses. Travis scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Ribeiro moves into the clinch. Ribeiro misses with a knee to the head. Travis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Travis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Travis throws a looping overhand right but Ribeiro ducks down to avoid it. Ribeiro looks to score with a jab to the body but Travis is just out of range. Jab, jab by Travis - just one landing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Travis scores with a nice right hand.
Travis misses with an uppercut. Ribeiro saw that one coming. Travis throws the left hand but Ribeiro avoids the punch easily. Travis throws a hook to the side of Ribeiro's head but Ribeiro sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Decent striking displayed by Ribeiro there. Travis scores with a hook to the body. Ribeiro takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Travis attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Travis gets a clinch. Ribeiro ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ribeiro no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Ribeiro has a closed guard, preventing Travis from standing up. Travis should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Ribeiro is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Travis wanted to stand there but Ribeiro had control of the position. Ribeiro doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Travis is looking to stand up but Ribeiro won't let him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ribeiro bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Travis's guard. Ribeiro sitting in guard, not really doing much. Ribeiro postures up and lands a big shot to Travis's brow. Travis wants to get back to his feet but Ribeiro is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Ribeiro controls from within his opponent's guard. Ribeiro keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Travis's head. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ribeiro won't allow Travis to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ribeiro content to stall in guard here. Travis is trying to stand and escape. In the scramble, Ribeiro has locked hold of an arm and he's managed to lock on an armbar - Travis taps out instantly and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ashton Ribeiro! Ashton Ribeiro seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
