This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 9 losses; Anderson Nogueira ! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Shen Po! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Nogueira shoots in for a takedown but Po shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Po closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Nogueira (0) vs (4) Po Po working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Po tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Po has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Po is trying to get an arm triangle but Nogueira is defending well. Nogueira is looking to reverse the position. Nogueira gets back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nogueira actively working from the bottom here. Nogueira is defending against the submission attempts here by Po.

That's one minute gone in the round. Po is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Nogueira tries to roll over but Po keeps him under control. Po looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Nogueira looking for submissions off his back. Po is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nogueira is just riding it out for now. Po eventually gives up the hold. Nogueira actively working from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nogueira looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Po maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Nogueira could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Po has cracked it and Nogueira is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Po!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shen Po! After the fight, Shen Po was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
