Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jambalaya Jones (ranked 914 p4p, 2504 weight class) and Shaman Weaver (ranked 99 p4p, 250 weight class). Weaver is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Close Your Eyes by Acen. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Some bone on bone action there as Weaver checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Jones punishes Weaver's body with a nice straight punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Weaver. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Weaver has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Weaver feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
