PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlo Cafiero (ranked 2547 p4p, 3367 weight class) and Dree Low (ranked 293 p4p, 388 weight class). Dree Low is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlo Cafiero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dree Low!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Francis DeMontford and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cafiero paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Low shoots in looking for a takedown. Cafiero tries to sprawl out of it but Low keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cafiero manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cafiero pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Low back to the cage. Cafiero follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Dree Low has been cut.
Horrible takedown attempt by Low or perhaps it was just good defense by Cafiero, which made it look bad.

Low isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Cafiero stacks Low on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Cafiero!

Low is staying active underneath Cafiero, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cafiero thows a huge punch but Low dodges it nicely.
Cafiero perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Cafiero thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Low's head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cafiero connects with a nice short shot to Low's temple.
Low wants to get back to full guard.
Cafiero seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Cafiero wants to lay and pray for a moment but Low keeps working.
Low on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Cafiero lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Cafiero has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Cafiero is nestled in close to Low, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Cafiero here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Low can do anything to dispel that myth.

Low takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Low looks to move to half guard but instead Cafiero has passed into mount! Damn!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Well Cafiero has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
