PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Uno Skibbo (ranked 1739 p4p, 4295 weight class) and Sauv Ignon (ranked 222 p4p, 440 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sauv Ignon!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ignon dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Skibbo misses with a looping left.
Skibbo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Skibbo wants it to stay on the feet.
It looked like Skibbo wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Skibbo lands a glancing blow to the side of Ignon's head.
Ignon moves out of range as Skibbo strikes.
Skibbo ducks right into an uppercut from Ignon.
Ignon misses the shot to the body.
A counter left hand to the body from Skibbo misses its target.
We've been told by Skibbo's head coaches at Animal Fight Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Sauv Ignon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ignon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ignon showed some decent athleticism there.

Ignon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Ignon is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Skibbo is defending against the submission attempts here by Ignon.

Ignon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Skibbo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ignon.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Ignon looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ignon is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Skibbo has managed to free his arm - good work.

Skibbo is trying to maintain the position but Ignon is very close to passing his half guard.

Ignon is working for a submission of some sort.

Ignon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Ignon is working for an americana but Skibbo has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Ignon was thinking about the submission.

Ignon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Skibbo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ignon, into his guard.

Skibbo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Skibbo throwing strikes but missing.

Ignon doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Skibbo lands with a right hand.

Ignon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Skibbo's half guard.

Ignon goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Skibbo turns into him and now he's in Ignon's guard.
Skibbo working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Ignon's head.

Ignon looking for subs off his back but Skibbo has passed one foot through into half guard.

Ignon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Skibbo pulls his head out easily.
Skibbo content to control rather than advance.

Ignon slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Ignon is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Skibbo has his hands clasped together but Ignon extends and breaks Skibbo's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Ignon.
