The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan throws a lazy head kick

and Soares moves into the clinch.

Soares pulls guard effortlessly.
Chan sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Soares's guard.
Soares is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chan with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chan trying to control the position from guard on top but Soares is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Soares working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Soares is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Chan is posturing up here but Soares has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Chan tries to roll out but it's too tight and Chan has to tap! Slick submission there by Soares!
