Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Surman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darrin Bunich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Darrin Bunich!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Surman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bunich pinned against the cage. Bunich gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Surman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bunich as he jumps to the side.
Surman tries to clinch but Bunich is having none of it.
Bunich stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Surman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bunich shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bunich was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Surman wants to control but Bunich is having none of it.
Surman is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bunich controlling the position easily from mount.
Bunich looking to control but Surman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Surman is desperately trying to improve his position but Bunich has a good base and remains in mount.

Bunich can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Surman is looking to escape.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Surman is breathing heavily.
Bunich lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Surman flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Bunich fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Surman wants to control but Bunich is having none of it.
Bunich wants to control the pace but Surman is squirming around nicely.
Bunich lands with some strikes.

Surman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bunich looking to control and managing it successfully.

Bunich is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Bunich bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Surman throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.

Surman is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Bunich pulls his head out easily.

Surman wants to hold on but Bunich pushes him away.
Surman can't escape the position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bunich cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Surman is desperately trying to improve his position but Bunich has a good base and remains in mount.
Bunich landing punches.
Surman is looking to improve his position but Bunich isn't that keen on the idea.
Bunich tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bunich in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darrin Bunich dominated that round.
That's time! Surman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Surman's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Surman duly obliges.
Surman is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Bunich closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Surman is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Bunich pulls his head out easily.
Bunich is keen to just control but Surman is a slippery customer.
Surman manages to get to full guard.

Surman is looking to sinch up a triangle. Bunich throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Surman's body to avoid the submission. Surman has instead reached around Bunich's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Surman arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jeff Surman!
