Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Lysander Birdwhistle (ranked 4718 p4p, 4587 weight class) and Kenji Matsuda (ranked 455 p4p, 440 weight class). Birdwhistle kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Black Vultures - Halestorm. Lysander Birdwhistle could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Kenji Matsuda's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lysander Birdwhistle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kenji Matsuda! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matsuda uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Birdwhistle. Matsuda blocks a jab. Matsuda slips a straight right by Birdwhistle. Birdwhistle misses with a left hand and Matsuda cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Lysander Birdwhistle has been cut. Birdwhistle gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. A telegraphed right hand from Birdwhistle misses the target. Birdwhistle has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Matsuda finds it's way round the side to connect with Birdwhistle's head. Birdwhistle lands a nice hook to Matsuda's body. Matsuda takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Birdwhistle scores with the left hand. Matsuda knows he should have avoided that one. Matsuda ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Matsuda checks a leg kick nicely. Birdwhistle throws a body punch but Matsuda moves out of range. Matsuda misses with a jab to the body
and Birdwhistle counters with a nice uppercut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Matsuda scores with a crisp jab that stopped Birdwhistle in his tracks.

Birdwhistle throws a low kick but Matsuda moves out of range easily. Matsuda jabs at Birdwhistle's body. Birdwhistle rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Matsuda counters with a lovely straight right hand! Birdwhistle throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Matsuda counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Matsuda lands a body shot.

Matsuda ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Birdwhistle tries a head kick but it misses.
Matsuda looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Birdwhistle takes a body punch but keeps moving. Birdwhistle is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Birdwhistle closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Birdwhistle counters with a nice body shot. Matsuda fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Birdwhistle manages to avoid it. Birdwhistle looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. A cross from Matsuda lands. Matsuda misses with a hook. Birdwhistle ducked under it nicely. Matsuda is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Birdwhistle had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush. Birdwhistle lands a slapping body shot.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Matsuda looks to land a left hand but Birdwhistle moved out of range nicely. Matsuda tries to bum rush Birdwhistle with a series of wild strikes but Birdwhistle uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Birdwhistle fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kenji Matsuda dominated that round. The cut man is working on Lysander Birdwhistle's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Birdwhistle misses with a right hand and Matsuda counters with a nice uppercut. Nice uppercut lands for Birdwhistle. That snapped Matsuda's head back.

Lysander Birdwhistle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Birdwhistle walks into a left hand. Matsuda closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matsuda tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Matsuda can't find room to land a body shot as Birdwhistle controls the action.

Matsuda is leaning against Birdwhistle and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kenji Matsuda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Lysander Birdwhistle's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! Matsuda stuns Birdwhistle with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Lysander Birdwhistle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Birdwhistle seems to have got his legs back now. Birdwhistle tries to move into range but Matsuda moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. No joy there for Matsuda, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Matsuda scores with a punch to the head. Matsuda connects with a crushing straight, right on the bridge of Birdwhistle's nose, sending him crumpling to the mat! That's really rocked Birdwhistle - is he going to beat the count??? 4,5,6,7,8,9.....10 - he's not made it - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Kenji Matsuda! During a confident post fight interview, Kenji Matsuda thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. Lysander Birdwhistle spoke after the fight, saying 'I'm trying to quit all my bad habits, so I hope this defeat is not the start of a new one.'.
