PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Langely Andreis (ranked 4106 p4p, 25264 weight class) and Karol Bedorf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karol Bedorf will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Langely Andreis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Karol Bedorf!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andreis moves out of range of the body kick.
Bedorf looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Bedorf throws a right and a left that Andreis avoids nicely.

Andreis shoots in and bounces Bedorf off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bedorf is wriggling around but Andreis manages to pass to half guard.

Bedorf really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Andreis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Andreis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Andreis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Andreis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bedorf is just riding it out for now. Andreis eventually gives up the hold.
Andreis lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Bedorf felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Andreis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Andreis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Andreis is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Andreis is figuring out what he wants to do next.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Andreis.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Andreis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bedorf for as long as he can get away with.
Bedorf is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Andreis has taken his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bedorf is trapped and Andreis is scoring with shots to the head and body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A momentary lapse in concentration from Bedorf enables Andreis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bedorf manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Andreis is pushing down on Bedorf's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bedorf is fighting to maintain full guard but Andreis has managed to sneak the leg through.
Andreis uses his free foot to push down on Bedorf's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bedorf.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bedorf tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bedorf is breathing heavily.
Bedorf takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Andreis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Andreis is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Andreis misses the shot to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Andreis's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Andreis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bedorf manages to get himself to full guard.

Andreis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Andreis chips away with some ground and pound.
Andreis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Andreis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Andreis wants to stand but Bedorf has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Andreis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Karol Bedorf's cut.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Andreis pushes Bedorf up against the cage in a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Bedorf tries for a takedown. No joy.

Andreis gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Andreis's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Langely Andreis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Andreis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Bedorf takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bedorf seems a little lost for a moment, as Andreis dominates the positioning.

Andreis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Bedorf tries to keep at a distance but Andreis has taken the fight into the clinch.
Bedorf tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Andreis is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bedorf can't fight it off and eventually Andreis manages to take the fight to the floor. Bedorf looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Andreis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bedorf's guard.
Andreis is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bedorf!

Langely Andreis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Andreis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
