PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randall Jackson (ranked 1820 p4p, 2428 weight class) and Brad Shaw (ranked 230 p4p, 305 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randall Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jackson throws out the jab.
Shaw looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Shaw throws a shot from downtown. Jackson moves away and avoids it.
Jackson misses with a hook. Shaw ducked under it nicely.
Jackson tries a head kick but it misses.

and Shaw counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaw darts in trying to clinch
and Jackson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Shaw gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Jackson counters with a thumping low kick.
Shaw scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Shaw stuns Jackson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jackson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Shaw misses with an uppercut.
Jackson misses with a left hand
and Shaw counters with a straight right hand.
Jackson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Shaw closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The strikes coming from Shaw are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Shaw tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shaw wants to free his trapped foot but Jackson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shaw is still trying to improve position.

Shaw is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Shaw has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Shaw is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shaw has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shaw has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Shaw's legs - danger averted.
Jackson wants to stand but Shaw has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Shaw has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.

Jackson takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Shaw's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
