Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adrian Halvorsen (ranked 1254 p4p, 402 weight class) and Luis Palhares (ranked 140 p4p, 52 weight class). Palhares comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Right On/ Showcore kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Luis Palhares told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Adrian Halvorsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Palhares!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palhares cracks Halvorsen with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Palhares throws a hook to the side of Halvorsen's head but Halvorsen sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Halvorsen takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
That kick from Palhares tenderised Halvorsen's leg. Halvorsen is trying to keep his angry face on.
Halvorsen takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Halvorsen looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Palhares comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Palhares throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

and Palhares counters with a shoot takedown. Halvorsen fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Palhares drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Halvorsen dives on top into guard.

Palhares escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Halvorsen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Halvorsen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Palhares swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Our spies down at at The Scrap Squad inform us that Palhares has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Palhares throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Halvorsen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Palhares working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Halvorsen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Halvorsen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Adrian Halvorsen.
I think Palhares has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
