Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Philip Roth (ranked 1650 p4p, 3626 weight class) and Jayilton Almeda (ranked 203 p4p, 430 weight class). Almeda is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Anota Aí - MC Lipi. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Philip Roth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jayilton Almeda! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Almeda misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Roth.
Almeda scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Almeda is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Roth. Roth shoots in for a double leg but Almeda sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Roth fails to land the takedown. Almeda is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Roth. Almeda misses with a body shot.
Roth slips a jab from Almeda. It looked like Roth wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Roth lands a two punch combo.
Roth drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Roth shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Almeda defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Philip Roth. That's going to take a lot out of him. Almeda circles away from the clinch attempt and Almeda counters with a left to the body. Roth misses with a takedown and Almeda counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roth blocks a head kick by Almeda.
Almeda comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Roth tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Almeda paws at him with a jab and circles away. Almeda ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Roth moves away. Roth has a takedown stuffed. A head kick from Almeda lands but Roth takes it in his stride. Roth uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Almeda. A little feinted left hand from Roth on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Roth fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Almeda sprawls well initially but Roth persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Roth tries to pass to full mount but Almeda defends it. Almeda holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Almeda is staying active underneath Roth, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Almeda is controlling Roth's position as best he can from this difficult position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Almeda makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Almeda. Almeda tries to strike from the bottom.

Almeda is striking but Roth is not phased and passes to half guard. Almeda wants to control the action here but instead Roth manages to pass to full mount! Almeda is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roth controlling from the full mount. Almeda has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Almeda wants to get back to his feet but in bucking up he's left an arm hanging out! Roth has locked onto it and has pulled off a slick armbar! Almeda taps furiously! This one is all over!
