Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Cocoa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Couillut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Cocoa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Couillut! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Couillut shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cocoa but Cocoa pushes him off and we're back to square one. Cocoa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Couillut moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Couillut dives in and grabs Cocoa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cocoa pushes down on Couillut's head and hops out. Cocoa is looking to slow Couillut down with leg kicks. Cocoa misses with a wild combination.
Cocoa with a hook. No luck for Couillut with that takedown attempt. Nick Cocoa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Couillut. Cocoa moves into range and clinches up with Couillut. Couillut working hard to break the clinch. Couillut wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Couillut has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Couillut wants a takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Couillut pressing his opponent against the cage. Cocoa gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Couillut.

Cocoa keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Couillut's efforts to push away. Couillut tries to pull guard but Cocoa won't allow it.

Cocoa gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Couillut is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Cocoa is stalling here.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Nick Cocoa. Couillut avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Cocoa avoids the head kick by Couillut.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cocoa misses with a hook. Couillut ducked under it nicely. Couillut tries to clinch but Cocoa moves away enabling Cocoa to counter with a crisp jab. Cocoa misses the jab. Cocoa throws a nice looking combination but Couillut bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. An inside leg kick lands from Cocoa. Cocoa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Couillut shoots and misses and Cocoa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Couillut! Cocoa has control of Couillut's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Couillut regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cocoa working for a submission but Couillut is keeping him at bay. Cocoa is breathing heavily. Couillut regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Cocoa dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Cocoa connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Couillut tries to clinch but Cocoa moves away and Cocoa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Cocoa thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Couillut lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cocoa! Cocoa is working to get back to half guard.

Couillut is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Couillut manages to capitalize on a mistake by Cocoa to take his back! Cocoa is in bad spot here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Couillut cracks Cocoa with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Cocoa from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Cocoa is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Cocoa grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Couillut is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Cocoa has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Couillut trying to control. I really don't envy Cocoa right now.
Couillut is trying to stick to Cocoa's back but Cocoa is turning into Couillut. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Couillut's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Cocoa. Cocoa wants to pass the guard but Couillut is keeping the position. Cocoa trying to control but Couillut is working from the bottom. Cocoa drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Couillut manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cocoa has Couillut in his guard. Couillut landing with the ground and pound.

Cocoa is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Couillut scores with a couple of nice shots. Couillut trying to mount his opponent but Cocoa defends it. Couillut is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Cocoa looking for submissions off his back. Couillut is looking for a kimura but Cocoa is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Couillut to get the leverage.

Cocoa is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Couillut pulls his head out easily. Couillut drops an elbow to the side of Cocoa's head. Couillut is trying to control the action in half guard but Cocoa is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Couillut wants to pass the guard but Cocoa is defending well. Couillut is working for a submission of some sort.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nick Cocoa will probably get the nod. That's time! Cocoa's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Couillut misses with a takedown and Cocoa counters with a nice double leg into guard. Cocoa trying to control the position from guard on top but Couillut is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Couillut is trying to keep Cocoa in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cocoa tries a low kick but Couillut avoids it. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cocoa, right into the meat.
Cocoa goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Cocoa throws a looping overhand right but Couillut ducks down to avoid it. Couillut clinches but Cocoa breaks the clinch and Cocoa counters with a nice double leg into guard. Cocoa advances position into side control! Couillut is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Nick Cocoa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Nick Cocoa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cocoa is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Cocoa is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

And that's the end of the fight! Nick Cocoa showed his dominance in that final round. Well Cocoa has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
