SSG 297 Solo vs Macker PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 16 losses; Hand Solo! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 13 losses; Dan Macker! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Macker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Solo to the mat! Solo manages to get full guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Solo (0) vs (2) Macker We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Macker wants to pass the guard but Solo is keeping the position. Solo wants to sweep but no luck. Macker tries to free his leg and advance position but Solo is retaining full guard. Macker seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Solo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Macker puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Macker trying to mount his opponent but Solo defends it. Solo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Solo is squirming around, avoiding Macker's attempts to control the action. Macker controlling the pace for now.
