The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. San has Gaul up against the cage in a clinch.
San looking for a takedown. Gaul has clasped his hands together around San's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Gaul (4) vs (0) San The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. San manages to get back to half guard. San is trying to get back to full guard. Gaul wants to lay and pray for a moment but San keeps working. Gaul controlling the action here. Gaul seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down San for as long as he can get away with. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That's one minute gone in the round. Gaul manages to reverse the position and now he's in San's guard. Nice work there by Gaul.

San controls Gaul momentarily but Gaul frees himself. Gaul sitting in guard, not really doing much. San keeping moving, preventing Gaul from controlling successfully. There's a bit of a scramble here and now San is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. San lying in Gaul's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Gaul decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! San taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
