Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jay Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robyn Phaneuf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robyn Phaneuf told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Robyn Phaneuf! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Phaneuf swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Lee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Phaneuf sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lee somewhat. Lee will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Phaneuf lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Phaneuf closes the distance and pushes Lee back into the ropes. Phaneuf landing knees to the head.
It looks like Jay Lee has been cut. Phaneuf throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Lee blocks it with crossed arms. Phaneuf with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Phaneuf creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Lee's defenses. Lee lands an elbow inside that Phaneuf shrugs off.
It looks like Robyn Phaneuf has been cut. Lee tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Phaneuf with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Lee tries for a takedown. No joy.
Lee blocks an elbow strike. Phaneuf throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Lee blocks it with crossed arms. Lee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Lee throws a half hearted mid kick. Lee throws a low kick but Phaneuf avoids it. Lee has managed to clinch.
Lee takes an elbow to the forehead. Lee tries to break the clinch but Phaneuf is controlling the position. Phaneuf avoids a wild elbow strike from Lee. Lee breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lee wants to clinch. Lee closes this distance looking for a takedown but Phaneuf circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lee is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Lee rushes Phaneuf and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Phaneuf landing knees to the head.
Phaneuf breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Decent striking displayed by Phaneuf there. Phaneuf tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Phaneuf somewhat. Phaneuf fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lee on the side of the head.
Lee is rocked! Phaneuf steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Lee is out on his feet! Phaneuf sets himself and nearly takes Lee's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Robyn Phaneuf!
