And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 3 losses; Alec Lynch! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Lynch drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. But no, Cantrell has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Cantrell has control of Lynch's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lynch regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Cantrell trying to mount his opponent but Lynch defends it. Cantrell is looking to take a break and control but Lynch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lynch is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cantrell pulls his head out easily. Lynch is trying to get back to full guard.

Cantrell escapes and throws Lynch's legs to the side, diving into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Cantrell (15) vs (12) Lynch Lynch is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Cantrell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lynch, who protects the arm well. Lynch stops Cantrell from passing to mount.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Lynch is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Cantrell is working for a submission of some sort.
Cantrell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lynch does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Lynch keeping control of the position. Lynch wants to improve his position but Cantrell is controlling well.

Lynch keeping moving, preventing Cantrell from controlling successfully. Cantrell is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lynch is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Lynch has his hands on Cantrell's head, controlling the position. Cantrell thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lynch holds on and takes a little breather. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lynch keeping moving, preventing Cantrell from controlling successfully. Lynch is pulling down on Cantrell's head to control his posture.
