Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nikitas Pulilis (ranked 23665 p4p, 25255 weight class) and Jacob Song (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nikitas Pulilis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jacob Song!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulilis throws a nice looking combination but Song bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A combination from Song does no damage.
Song swings for the body but Pulilis moves out of range.
Song walks into a straight right hand from Pulilis.
Song falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pulilis counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Pulilis definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Song takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Pulilis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Song throws a right and a left that both miss.

Pulilis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Song did well to prevent Pulilis getting side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pulilis slows the pace down in half guard.
Song misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Song tries to get to full guard but Pulilis has control of the leg.
Pulilis trying to control the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pulilis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Song defends it well.
Song blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pulilis.
Pulilis blocks the strikes from Song.
Pulilis controlling the pace.
Pulilis passes to full mount!
Song is trying desperately to improve position.
Pulilis content just to control the position here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Song can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pulilis working for a submission but Song is keeping him at bay.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pulilis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Pulilis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Pulilis looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Song is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Pulilis controlling from the full mount.
Song looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Pulilis is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Pulilis is working for a rear naked choke. Song is not defending it well and Pulilis has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Song refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Song's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nikitas Pulilis!
