Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joel Alvarez (ranked 5441 p4p, 3674 weight class) and Diego Carpio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Diego Carpio enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joel Alvarez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Diego Carpio! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carpio keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Carpio swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Alvarez counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Carpio trying to land knees to the body.
Carpio misses with a punch to the body.
Alvarez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Carpio misses with a hook from the clinch. Carpio lands a body shot in the clinch.

Diego Carpio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Carpio tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alvarez was well out of range. Poor timing from Carpio. Carpio stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carpio wants it to stay on the feet. Alvarez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Alvarez is breathing heavily. Carpio misses with a few strikes there.
A jab lands there for Carpio. Carpio throws a series of strikes that have Alvarez backpedaling.

Alvarez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Carpio takes the fight into the clinch. Carpio tries to throw a body punch but Alvarez avoids it by throwing Carpio back against the cage. Carpio is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carpio's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! A right hook to the body lands for Carpio.
Alvarez wants to break free but Carpio has control.
Alvarez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carpio walks away with a smile on his face. Alvarez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Carpio dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Alvarez takes a jab right on the kisser.
Horrible takedown attempt by Alvarez or perhaps it was just good defense by Carpio, which made it look bad. Carpio tries to clinch up but Alvarez circles away and keeps his distance. Alvarez tries to counter by clinching up but Carpio breaks away and moves out of range. Carpio misses with a low kick.
Nice takedown defense from Carpio. No joy for Alvarez on that attempt. Alvarez darts in looking for a takedown but Carpio gets double underhooks and turns Alvarez into the cage. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Alvarez wants to sweep here but Carpio controlling him for the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A thudding body kick lands there by Carpio!
Carpio loads up on a big right hand but Alvarez slips the punch. Carpio closes the distance and clinches. Carpio is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Carpio taking a breather. Alvarez taking a breather.

Diego Carpio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round! Carpio scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Carpio instigates a clinch. Alvarez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Carpio.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carpio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Carpio wanted to stand there but Alvarez had control of the position. Carpio trying to control but Alvarez is working from the bottom. Carpio won't allow Alvarez to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carpio avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Alvarez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carpio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Carpio lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Alvarez backs up against the cage.

Carpio tries to sprawl out of it but Alvarez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carpio manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Alvarez avoids the head kick by Carpio.
Carpio is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Alvarez takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarez slips under a jab. Alvarez throws a counter high kick but Carpio was just alert enough to avoid it. Carpio blocks a head kick by Alvarez.

Carpio will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Alvarez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carpio. A quick step to the side and Alvarez tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Carpio doesn't manage to clinch there - Alvarez circles away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Carpio moves in looking to clinch but Alvarez pushes him off. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Some wild striking there from Carpio.
Alvarez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
And that's the end of the fight! Diego Carpio comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Carpio winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
