Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cameron McNab (ranked 5357 p4p, 5552 weight class) and Kenny Soederblom (ranked 483 p4p, 492 weight class). Kenny Soederblom told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cameron McNab! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kenny Soederblom! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McNab tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Soederblom was well out of range. Poor timing from McNab. Soederblom has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. A left lands for Soederblom. Soederblom uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Nice straight punches there by Soederblom. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Soederblom. McNab closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Soederblom did well to prevent McNab getting side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Soederblom looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McNab lands a nice short elbow. Soederblom has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, McNab escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by McNab! McNab has knee on belly and moves into mount. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McNab tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Soederblom tries to lock up and control but McNab gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. McNab trying to control but Soederblom is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Soederblom's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. McNab fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. McNab with a couple of short strikes. Soederblom really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McNab. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. McNab pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Soederblom tries to reverse the position but McNab maintains control. Cameron McNab dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! McNab shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Soederblom as he avoids it easily. McNab swings for the body but Soederblom moves out of range.

Soederblom is trying to improve his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McNab wants to control but Soederblom is keeping him busy. McNab loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Soederblom scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from McNab land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. McNab stands and salutes the crowd.
