Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Deon Jeffries! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Danny Weenis! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weenis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jeffries counters with a lovely shot to the body. Jeffries looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Weenis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jeffries avoids it really well and circles away. Weenis fails with a takedown attempt. Deon Jeffries has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny Weenis. Weenis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jeffries looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Weenis misses with a takedown attempt and Jeffries counters with a three punch combo that has Weenis backing up. Weenis nods at Jeffries to acknowledge the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jeffries pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Weenis back to the cage. Jeffries follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Weenis tries to keep at a distance but Jeffries has taken the fight into the clinch. Jeffries wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jeffries has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Weenis regains guard immediately. Weenis is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Weenis blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Weenis drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jeffries breaks the clinch.
Jeffries throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Weenis's head.
Weenis is rocked! Jeffries is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Weenis hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Deon Jeffries! Post fight, Deon Jeffries stared into the camera and said 'The best is here, death is near.'.
