Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phillip Mayo (ranked 3711 p4p, 3579 weight class) and Adan Rollins (ranked 397 p4p, 384 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phillip Mayo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adan Rollins! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Rollins does no damage. Mayo slips a jab and a cross from Rollins.
Mayo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Rollins is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Rollins manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Mayo takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Mayo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rollins can do anything to dispel that myth. Rollins wants to get back to full guard but Mayo has mounted him! Rollins is trying desperately to improve position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mayo raining down shots from the mount! Rollins tries to reverse the position but Mayo maintains control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Poor strikes thrown by Mayo there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rollins is trying desperately to improve position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mayo looking for a guillotine from mount but Rollins is having none of it. Mayo trying to control but Rollins is having none of it. Rollins slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Rollins manages to get to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Rollins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mayo's guard. Rollins looking to pass the guard. Mayo trying to control the position.
Rollins passes Mayo's left leg - he's now in half guard. Rollins is pressing down on Mayo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mayo is holding on for now. Rollins works his foot free and advances to mount. Mayo is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rollins moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mayo has worked his arm free - good work by Mayo!
Mayo is looking for a sweep. Rollins working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Rollins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mayo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Rollins looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Rollins looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Rollins wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mayo, who protects the arm well. Rollins swings around for an armbar but Mayo sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rollins's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rollins is on top in guard.
Rollins drops back looking for a leg! Mayo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mayo manages to kick Rollins off! Rollins jumps back into Mayo's guard. Rollins tries to free his leg and advance position but Mayo is retaining full guard. Mayo is trying to control the position but Rollins postures up. Mayo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rollins is controlling him. Rollins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mayo swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Adan Rollins will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Mayo slips a straight right by Rollins. Excellent takedown into side control there by Mayo. Rollins tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mayo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Rollins is not content to let Mayo control the position. Mayo working the body and head with strikes. Rollins is looking for a sweep. Rollins prevents Mayo from moving into mount. Mayo wants to control but Rollins is keeping him busy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rollins gets back to half guard. Rollins tries to roll over but Mayo keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rollins trying to get back to full guard but Mayo takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Rollins is trying to escape the mount.
Rollins regains half guard. Rollins moves into full guard.
Rollins looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mayo wants to stand but Rollins is controlling his posture from full guard. Rollins looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mayo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rollins makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rollins. Mayo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rollins swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rollins looking for a sweep. Not yet Rollins, not yet. Mayo wants to control from the top but Rollins keeps moving. Mayo stopping the sweep attempt from Rollins. Rollins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rollins wants to pass to mount but Mayo is defending the position. Rollins stops Mayo from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rollins works his foot free and advances to mount. Rollins swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mayo is now in Rollins's guard. A big mistake from Rollins there, giving up the dominant position! Rollins manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mayo manages to get himself to full guard.
Rollins is pushing down on Mayo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mayo is fighting to maintain full guard but Rollins has managed to sneak the leg through. Mayo won't allow Rollins to pass to mount. Rollins passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mayo! Rollins swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mayo is now in Rollins's guard. A big mistake from Rollins there, giving up the dominant position! Rollins wants to sweep here but Mayo controlling him for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rollins is looking to cinch up a triangle. Mayo throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rollins's body to avoid the submission. Rollins has instead reached around Mayo's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rollins arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Adan Rollins!
