Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Edwin Valero (ranked 2390 p4p, 4729 weight class) and Frontino Melfighi (ranked 167 p4p, 265 weight class). Frontino Melfighi will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melfighi misses with a few strikes there.
Valero takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Valero misses with a head kick.

Melfighi drives through and clinches with Valero against the cage.
We've been hearing reports that Valero has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Melfighi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Melfighi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Valero moves away.
Melfighi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Edwin Valero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Melfighi has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Valero seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Melfighi can turn it around.

and Melfighi counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Valero down! Melfighi is looking to finish but Valero is intelligently defending himself.

Melfighi wanted to stand there but Valero had control of the position.
Oh Valero is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Melfighi gets to his feet. Valero looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Melfighi lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!
