Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Calvin (ranked 3692 p4p, 25543 weight class) and Alberto Hicks (ranked 342 p4p, 455 weight class). Hicks is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Father Stretch My Hands!. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Calvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alberto Hicks!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Calvin with that takedown attempt.
Hicks drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Calvin defends it well.
Calvin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hicks as he jumps to the side.
A little jabbing left from Hicks on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hicks dives in for a single leg takedown but Calvin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hicks fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Scott Calvin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alberto Hicks.
Calvin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hicks sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Calvin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hicks sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Calvin somewhat.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Calvin throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hicks is thwarting Calvin's attempts to control the position.

Hicks thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Calvin's head.

Hicks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Calvin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hicks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Calvin keeps working.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Calvin gets full guard.
Calvin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Calvin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Calvin wants to control but Hicks is keeping him busy.
Hicks wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Calvin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hicks with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Calvin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hicks does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Calvin connects with a nice short shot to Hicks's temple.

Hicks is rocked!
Calvin sitting in half guard here. He lands a big elbow that has hurt Hicks! Oh, Hicks is in big trouble! Calvin lands more strikes and the ref dives in to save him! The fight is over!
