Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sepsi Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rico showed some decent athleticism there.
Rico tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Rico is going to stand back up.

Penn has his foot on Rico's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rico works his way back into a safe position though.

and Rico counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rico.

The fight stays on the outside here - Rico looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Penn jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rico walks away with a smile on his face. Penn gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Penn tries to close the distance and clinch but Rico swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Penn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Penn.

Sepsi Rico has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reggie Penn.
Penn throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ricos head.
Rico trying to control the position but instead, Penn has worked for underhooks and has pushed Rico into the cage.
Rico tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Penn smiles and moves away.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Penn ducks right into an uppercut from Rico.
Rico throws a looping overhand right but Penn ducks down to avoid it.
Rico misses the shot to the body.
Rico drives through and clinches with Penn against the cage.
Penn drags the fight down to the ground.
Penn throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Rico wants to get up but he can't break Penn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Rico stands up from Penn's guard - Rico perhaps looking for a knockout.
Penn fails with an attempt to clinch.

Penn changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rico looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Rico is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Penn is controlling him well.
Penn is trying to get an arm triangle but Rico is defending well.

Rico looks to land a combination. Penn sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Rico shoots for a double leg takedown but Penn sprawls well. He's pushed Rico's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sepsi Rico will probably get the nod.

Penn swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rico is now in Penn's guard. A big mistake from Penn there, giving up the dominant position!
Rico stands and steps away. Penn gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Penn has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rico fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rico tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Penn just stands there and leans against the cage.
Penn tries to land knees in the clinch but Rico avoids the damage to the body.
Rico drags the fight down to the ground.
Penn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rico throws a sloppy head kick and Penn moves out of range easily.

Rico misses with a low kick.
Penn clinches but Rico breaks the clinch
and Rico counters with a takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Penn is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Penn is trying to get back to half guard.
Rico decides to stand back up. Rico steps back and let's Penn get back to his feet.

and Penn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Rico fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rico tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Penn tries for a takedown. No joy.

Come on Penn - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Penn is pressed up against the cage. Rico has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Penn down to the mat. Penn avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Rico throws a head kick that misses.
Penn is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rico closes the distance and clinches up with Penn, looking for a takedown. Rico pushes Penn against the cage but Penn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Penn fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Rico wants to clinch but Penn slips to the side
and Penn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Penn.
Rico jumps guard but Penn stands there with Rico around his waist. Rico gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Penn prevents Rico from breaking the clinch.
Rico blocks an elbow strike from Penn.
Rico goes for a takedown in the clinch but Penn prevents it.
Penn is trying to trip Rico. He has hold of a leg but Rico is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Penn persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Penn won't allow Rico to get back to his feet.
Rico wants to sweep here but Penn controlling him for the moment.
Rico wants to stand and escape but Penn is having none of it.
Reggie Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Penn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sepsi Rico.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rico, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
