Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Grant Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Mica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Grant Kennedy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, John Mica! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mica blocks a head kick by Kennedy.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Kennedy looks for a takedown but Mica sprawls well. Kennedy shoots in looking for a takedown. Mica tries to sprawl out of it but Kennedy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mica manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Kennedy feints and as Mica raises his hands in defense, Kennedy changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kennedy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Mica is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Kennedy wants to pass the guard but Mica is keeping the position. Mica is trying to keep Kennedy in close.
Mica is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Kennedy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kennedy wants to pass the guard but Mica is keeping the position. Kennedy drops back looking for a leg! Mica is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mica manages to kick Kennedy off! Kennedy jumps back into Mica's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mica closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kennedy did well to prevent Mica getting side control. Mica trying to control the action but Kennedy is working from the bottom. Kennedy is trying to get back to full guard. Kennedy looking for submissions off his back. Kennedy is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Mica pulls his head out easily. Kennedy is breathing heavily. Mica controlling the action here. Kennedy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Mica is keen to just control but Kennedy is a slippery customer. Kennedy looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Kennedy looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mica gets a takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mica uses his free foot to push down on Kennedy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kennedy. Mica trying to control but Kennedy is having none of it. Mica prevents Kennedy from getting the reversal. Mica looking to control but Kennedy is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Kennedy bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Kennedy passes Mica's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Mica is doing well to control the position and prevent Kennedy from advancing to side control. Mica tries to get to full guard but Kennedy has control of the leg. Kennedy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mica defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mica wants to control but Kennedy is keeping busy.
Kennedy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mica is just riding it out for now. Kennedy eventually gives up the hold. Kennedy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kennedy is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mica sees it coming and defends easily. Mica wants to get back to full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mica scores a takedown into full mount! Kennedy keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mica thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Mica can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kennedy is looking to escape. Mica takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Kennedy tries to hold on but Mica postures up. Mica unloads with some shots from mount but Kennedy bucks and avoids them well.

Kennedy tries to hold on but Mica pushes him away. Mica prevents Kennedy from getting the reversal. Mica looking to control and managing it successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Mica dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Kennedy scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Mica sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Mica manages to get to full guard.
Kennedy looking to pass the guard. Mica throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Kennedy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Mica keeping moving, preventing Kennedy from controlling successfully. Mica controls Kennedy momentarily but Kennedy frees himself. Kennedy wants to control from the top but Mica keeps moving. Mica looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kennedy is one step ahead there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Mica will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kennedy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kennedy scores a takedown into full mount! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kennedy wants to control the pace but Mica is squirming around nicely. Mica can't escape the position.
Kennedy with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Mica gets back to half guard. Kennedy is trying to control. Mica wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Kennedy tries to pass to full mount but Mica defends it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kennedy is looking for a kimura but Mica is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kennedy to get the leverage. Mica is trying to control but can't.
Mica tries to roll over but Kennedy keeps him under control. Kennedy postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Mica to stand up. Mica looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kennedy throws a head kick but Mica moves out of range.

Mica shoots for a takedown but Kennedy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Grant Kennedy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Mica. Kennedy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mica to the mat! Mica manages to get full guard. Kennedy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kennedy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kennedy wanted to stand there but Mica had control of the position. Mica is controlling Kennedy's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mica looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kennedy trying to control the position from guard on top but Mica is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mica working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kennedy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kennedy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Kennedy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Grant Kennedy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mica trying to keep a closed guard but Kennedy is proving a slippery customer.

Kennedy tries for a kimura but Mica is defending well. Mica keeping his opponent close. Mica is looking to reverse the position. Mica struggling a bit here. Kennedy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kennedy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Mica is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kennedy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mica was covering up waiting for the punch and Kennedy finishes the takedown easily into guard. Mica is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kennedy trying to control the position from guard on top but Mica is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kennedy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Mica looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Mica stopping the sweep attempt from Kennedy. Mica stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kennedy swivels though and keeps the full guard. Kennedy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mica doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Kennedy is tightening it up a little... Mica has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mica reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mica taps out! nice BJJ there by Kennedy!
