PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Irineu Orfeu (ranked 3787 p4p, 24444 weight class) and Doug Wayne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wayne shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Orfeu as he avoids it easily.

Orfeu moves into range and clinches up with Wayne.

Orfeu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Orfeu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Orfeu is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wayne tries to roll over but Orfeu keeps him under control.
Wayne is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Wayne tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Orfeu defends well and Wayne ends up having to push Orfeu into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Wayne leaves Orfeu with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Wayne or perhaps it was just good defense by Orfeu, which made it look bad.

Orfeu moves into range and clinches up with Wayne.

Orfeu has Wayne pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Orfeu pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wayne tumbling to the mat - Orfeu dives into Wayne's guard.

Orfeu shoots in looking for a takedown but Wayne manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Orfeu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Orfeu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
