The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dukes misses with a combination

and Sharr Ikk counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Dukes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sharr Ikk is working for a kimura but Dukes is defending it quite comfortably.

Sharr Ikk is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dukes is just riding it out for now. Sharr Ikk eventually gives up the hold.

Sharr Ikk drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dukes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sharr Ikk has Dukes in his guard.

Dukes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sharr Ikk manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
