This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 78 wins and 48 losses; Jackson Ramirez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 44 wins and 28 losses; Tyron Scott! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Glass and Chris Edwards.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Ramirez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ramirez wants it to stay on the feet. Ramirez changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Scott misses with a takedown attempt - Ramirez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Scott tries for a takedown but Ramirez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jackson Ramirez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyron Scott. Scott shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ramirez pinned against the cage. Ramirez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ramirez closes the distance and clinches up with Scott, looking for a takedown. Ramirez pushes Scott against the cage but Scott circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ramirez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Scott is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Scott tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ramirez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Scott somewhat. Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ramirez as he jumps to the side. Ramirez throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Scott tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ramirez is in Scott's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Ramirez (2) vs (0) Scott We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ramirez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've been hearing good reports from Ramirez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Ramirez tries to free his leg and advance position but Scott is retaining full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramirez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Scott keeping moving, preventing Ramirez from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez is pushing down on Scott's leg trying to pass to half guard. Scott is fighting to maintain full guard but Ramirez has managed to sneak the leg through. Ramirez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Scott is just riding it out for now. Ramirez eventually gives up the hold. Scott is holding on to half guard well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ramirez wants to take a breather but Scott is having none of it. Ramirez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Ramirez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Scott for as long as he can get away with.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Ramirez is trying to control the action in half guard but Scott is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Scott tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ramirez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ramirez advances nicely into full mount. That's eight minutes gone in the round. Ramirez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Ramirez wants to control the pace but Scott is squirming around nicely.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Ramirez takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ramirez looking to control but Scott is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Ramirez is stalling here but it's allowed Scott to get half guard.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Scott is positioning himself well to prevent Ramirez advancing to mount. Ramirez wants to take a breather but Scott is having none of it. Ramirez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Scott trying to control but Ramirez postures up.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Scott tries to get to full guard but Ramirez has control of the leg. Well, if Ramirez is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Scott sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Ramirez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Scott is looking to control Ramirez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Scott avoid being mounted?

And that's the end of the fight! Ramirez takes the fight on points by 13 to 0. Jackson Ramirez very nearly forgot to thank Threads of Fate amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you. |
