PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Timothee Cuabalu (ranked 4945 p4p, 4077 weight class) and James Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cuabalu is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The key to victory for Timothee Cuabalu has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Timothee Cuabalu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Foster!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Winston Alpacca and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster ducks under a wild hook from Cuabalu.
Cuabalu is breathing heavily.
Cuabalu throws a right hand that misses
and Foster counters with a stiff right hand.

Foster shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cuabalu's guard.
Foster content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Foster pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cuabalu is keeping the position for now.
Foster makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Foster cracks Cuabalu with a solid left hand.
Cuabalu will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cuabalu can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Foster controls the pace.
Foster trying to control the position from guard on top but Cuabalu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foster lands a couple of elbows.
Foster distracts Cuabalu with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Cuabalu working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Foster.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Foster accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Foster throwing strikes but missing.
Foster keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Cuabalu's head.
Foster throws a big elbow that misses.
Foster with a flurry of punches that miss.
Foster with a nice head shot there.
Foster controls from within his opponent's guard.
Foster throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Foster shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Foster wants to control from the top but Cuabalu keeps moving.
Foster loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Foster lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Foster postures up in Cuabalu's guard and throws a big left but Cuabalu blocks it.
Foster throwing strikes from guard but Cuabalu blocks nicely.
Cuabalu preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Foster postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Foster shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cuabalu napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Foster scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cuabalu to see if he's OK.

Foster is working Cuabalu over with some ground and pound from side control.
Foster works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Foster looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Foster misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Foster working the body and head with strikes.
Foster creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cuabalu sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Foster postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Foster lands a few punches from side control.

Cuabalu is rocked!
Foster cracks Cuabalu with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Foster immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Cuabalu is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Foster!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Foster!
