PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sparky Anderson (ranked 2185 p4p, 2353 weight class) and Meebly Gibbersnout (ranked 253 p4p, 266 weight class). Anderson comes to the cage accompanied by Pick up man. Gibbersnout has chosen Purge announcement as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Meebly Gibbersnout!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbersnout on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Anderson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Anderson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Gibbersnout tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gibbersnout is not content to let Anderson control the position.
Anderson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Anderson goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gibbersnout rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Anderson's guard! Nice work there by Gibbersnout!
Anderson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Anderson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gibbersnout is one step ahead there.
Anderson is working hard here to advance position.
Gibbersnout is looking to work some ground and pound but Anderson has wrist control.
Anderson wants to stand but Gibbersnout is controlling the position.
Anderson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Gibbersnout wants to stand but Anderson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Anderson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gibbersnout's guard.

Anderson trying to control the position from guard on top but Gibbersnout is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Anderson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gibbersnout is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Anderson controls from within his opponent's guard.

Gibbersnout is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well.

Gibbersnout working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Anderson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Anderson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gibbersnout throws his legs up looking for a submission but Anderson uses it to pass to side control.
Anderson is looking to take a break and control but Gibbersnout is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Anderson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gibbersnout knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Anderson has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gibbersnout!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Anderson trying to control but Gibbersnout is having none of it.
Gibbersnout working to try and regain half guard.
Anderson trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gibbersnout is looking to improve his position but Anderson isn't that keen on the idea.

Anderson goes for an armbar but Gibbersnout turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Gibbersnout.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sparky Anderson dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gibbersnout is defended easily by Anderson.
Anderson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gibbersnout feints the counter takedown.
Anderson scores with a sloppy right hand. Gibbersnout should have avoided that one.

It looks like Meebly Gibbersnout has been cut.
Anderson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gibbersnout gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Anderson counters with a series of strikes. Gibbersnout will be more careful next time no doubt.

Gibbersnout closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gibbersnout looking for a takedown.
Sparky Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Meebly Gibbersnout.

Anderson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A combination from Anderson does no damage.

Anderson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Anderson advances to full mount.

Anderson scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Gibbersnout throws a strike from the bottom but Anderson uses the opportunity to take his back.
Sparky Anderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gibbersnout tries to escape but Anderson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Gibbersnout keeps trying to improve his position.
Anderson controlling the position well here. Gibbersnout rolled but Anderson kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gibbersnout staying busy and making it hard for Anderson to control.
You can see the frustration on Gibbersnout's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Anderson tries to get the hooks in deep but Gibbersnout pushed the leg off.
Gibbersnout tries to break free.
Gibbersnout is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Anderson is working for a rear naked choke. Gibbersnout is not defending it well and Anderson has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Gibbersnout refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Gibbersnout's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Sparky Anderson!
Sparky Anderson took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
