Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cactus Jack (ranked 3180 p4p, 3729 weight class) and Devon Merchant (ranked 375 p4p, 430 weight class). Merchant is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: HonestKey- Pass. Devon Merchant acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Cactus Jack! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Devon Merchant! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merchant throws a body shot but no joy. Jack shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Merchant as he jumps to the side. Jack tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Merchant paws at him with a jab and circles away. Jack fails to land with a series of punches.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Merchant has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Jack doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Merchant tries to sprawl but Jack drives through with a takedown into half guard. Jack missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Jack is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Merchant doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jack. Jack tries to pass the half guard into mount. Merchant knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jack is trying to work for a kimura but Merchant is defending well.

Jack has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Merchant utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Merchant trying to control the position here. Merchant preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jack is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Jack pushes Merchant against the cage but Merchant circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Merchant throws out a counter right but Jack avoids it with no problem. The fighters circling - Merchant throws out the jab but it was never going to land. As Merchant looks to move away, Jack throws a big counter combo but Merchant just gets out of the way. Jack tries to close the distance and clinch up but Merchant swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jack shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Merchant pinned against the cage. Merchant gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Horrible takedown attempt by Jack or perhaps it was just good defense by Merchant, which made it look bad. Merchant ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Merchant misses with an uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jack keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Merchant. Jack dives in and grabs Merchant's left leg, looking for a takedown. Merchant pushes down on Jack's head and hops out. And Merchant tries to counter it with a takedown but Jack pushes his down on his head and steps out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cactus Jack. That's going to take a lot out of him. Merchant manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jack on his heels. He'll look to pass Jack's guard now, I'm sure. Jack uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Is there anything that Merchant can do to turn this around? Merchant throws a hook but Jack blocks it. Jack fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cactus Jack will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Devon Merchant's cut. That's time! Jack's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round! Jack uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Merchant. Merchant slips a jab and a cross from Jack.

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jack with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Jack keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Merchant misses with a looping left. Jack defending well as Merchant loads up on a big left hand. Merchant throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jack sees it coming and avoids it easily. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jack is defended easily by Merchant. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jack throws a series of strikes that have Merchant backpedaling.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Devon Merchant. I think Jack has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
