Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Danny Weenis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Deon Jeffries!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jeffries slaps away a takedown attempt from Weenis, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Weenis moves into range and clinches up with Jeffries.
Jeffries is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Weenis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Weenis blocks a body shot from Jeffries.
Jeffries misses with a punch to the body.
Jeffries slows down the pace here.
Weenis prevents a takedown attempt there.
Jeffries lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jeffries breaks from the clinch.
Jeffries fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Weenis avoids it really well and circles away.
Danny Weenis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Deon Jeffries.

Both fighters circling a little - Weenis finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Horrible takedown attempt by Weenis or perhaps it was just good defense by Jeffries, which made it look bad.
Jeffries shoots in looking for a takedown. Weenis tries to sprawl out of it but Jeffries keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Weenis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Weenis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Weenis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jeffries prevents Weenis from moving into mount.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Weenis thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Weenis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Jeffries can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Weenis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jeffries was covering up waiting for the punch and Weenis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jeffries really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Weenis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Danny Weenis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Weenis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Weenis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jeffries for as long as he can get away with.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jeffries can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Weenis distracts Jeffries with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Weenis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Weenis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Jeffries is trying to escape the position but Weenis is controlling the position.
Weenis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Weenis continues to stall.
Jeffries is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Weenis has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Weenis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jeffries as he jumps to the side.
As Weenis backs off Jeffries throws a huge counter combo but Weenis manages to avoid it all.
Weenis dives in and grabs Jeffries's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jeffries pushes down on Weenis's head and hops out.
Weenis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jeffries fails with a takedown attempt.

Jeffries shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Weenis manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Jeffries keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Weenis manages to break the clinch.
Jeffries tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Weenis swivels and escapes.
Jeffries takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Weenis gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Weenis tries to land a knee to the head but Jeffries blocks with his arms.

Weenis gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Jeffries regains guard.
Weenis slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Weenis slows the pace down in half guard.
Weenis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Weenis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Weenis in particular looking to stall.
