And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 10 losses; Uncle Abner! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Wiener has closed the distance and engaged Abner in a clinch.
Abner prevents the takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wiener looking for a sweep. Not yet Wiener, not yet. Wiener manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Abner manages to get himself to full guard.

Wiener remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Abner will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Abner has good solid back control here. Wiener tries to escape the position.

Abner is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Wiener has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Wiener trying to control the hands but Abner breaks the grip. I really don't envy Wiener right now.

We've been informed that Abner has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Abner tightening his grip on Wiener, looking for the choke. Wiener trying to control the hands but Abner breaks the grip. Wiener really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Abner tries to get the hooks in deep but Wiener pushed the leg off. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Abner not allowing Wiener to control his hands. Wiener tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Wiener is working to get back to half guard.
Abner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Abner tries to control but Wiener wriggling away.

Abner is trying to stick to Wiener's back but Wiener is turning into Abner. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Abner's guard. Wiener is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Abner is just riding it out for now. Wiener eventually gives up the hold. Abner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Abner. Abner wants to sweep but no luck.

Wiener stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Abner swivels though and keeps the full guard. Abner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wiener is one step ahead there. Wiener wants to control from the top but Abner keeps moving. Wiener slips nicely into half guard. Wiener is working for a submission of some sort.
