Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Eddie Henderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Vincent! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henderson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vincent defends it nicely. Henderson thuds his right hand into Vincent's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Henderson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vincent, pushing him back against the ropes. A right handed body shot lands from Henderson.
Vincent tries to pull guard but Henderson holds him up against the ropes and eventually Vincent drops back down to his feet.
Vincent fails to pull guard.
Vincent wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Vincent is looking to break free of the clinch but Henderson has double underhooks. Vincent has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Henderson regains guard immediately. Henderson wants to stand and escape but Vincent is having none of it. Vincent is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Henderson wants to stand and escape but Vincent is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vincent wants to stand but Henderson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Vincent is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Vincent trying to control but Henderson is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Henderson looking for a sweep. Not yet Henderson, not yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Vincent drives through and clinches with Henderson against the ropes.
Vincent has Henderson pressed against the ropes, preventing Henderson from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Vincent drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Henderson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Eddie Henderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Vincent. Henderson is pressed up against the ropes. Vincent has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Henderson down to the mat. Henderson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Vincent shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Henderson defends it nicely. Vincent misses with the combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Henderson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Henderson comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Henderson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes. Henderson has had enough of the clinch but Vincent keeps him there for the moment. Henderson gets through Vincent's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Henderson breaks from the clinch.
Vincent will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Vincent looks gassed! Vincent keeps the fight on the outside. Henderson stalks Vincent and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Vincent's face. Vincent staggers backwards, shaken. Henderson closes the distance and clinches. Henderson breaks the clinch.
Vincent shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Vincent is trying to work for a kimura but Henderson is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Henderson is trying to stand back up but Vincent is controlling him
Vincent keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Eddie Henderson will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Vincent takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Henderson tries to keep at a distance but Vincent has taken the fight into the clinch. Henderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vincent darts in trying to clinch and Henderson counters with a left and a right that stings Vincent. Vincent keeps the fight on the outside. Henderson tries to close the distance and clinch but Vincent swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Henderson gets caught flat footed, as Vincent shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Vincent is pushing down on Henderson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Henderson is fighting to maintain full guard but Vincent has managed to sneak the leg through. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Vincent lands a nice short elbow. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Vincent prevents Henderson from standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vincent seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Henderson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Vincent trying to control the pace. Vincent is trying to control. Henderson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Henderson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Henderson tries to get out of the position. Vincent takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Vincent is taking a breather. Henderson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Henderson is not content to let Vincent control the position. Vincent in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Henderson tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Vincent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mark Vincent!
